The Cal Tribute is Live June 2026
We are an online newspaper dedicated to providing factual information about local events within the United States. What sets us apart from large publishers is the ability to deliver real news without the distractions or off-putting agendas.
Fact of the Matter
Many people say they want clear, factual news, but studies show they often end up reading opinion instead.
Research from groups like Pew Research Center (2024) and the Reuters Institute (2024) shows that people click on emotional or opinion‑based stories far more than neutral reporting, with opinion pieces getting 2–3 times more engagement than straight news.
Even though about 70% of adults claim to prefer facts, their behavior shows a quiet pull toward stories that feel stronger, louder, and more human.
Most people read news on social media now, where opinion spreads faster than facts, and the Reuters Institute reports that over 55% of adults under 30 get most of their news from social platforms.

Many do not follow the news as closely as they used to, so they choose what feels easy to read, and Pew shows that only 36% of Americans now follow news “all or most of the time.”
Opinion stories feel simple and emotional, so people click on them more.
This makes the world feel louder, and it makes the truth feel smaller.

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Young tenants protest against rent increases outside the Property Council of Australia building on March 24, 2023 in Sydney, Australia. Australia is facing a rental crisis with vacancies at historic lows in multiple states, especially in the Eastern cities. Drastic increases in rent have forced many into difficult economic circumstances, as a confluence of factors have also driven inflation and interest rates up in rapid steps. Fact of the Matter
A clear, well‑documented fact about the 2026 housing crisis is that the United States faced a shortage of 7.2 million affordable and available rental homes for extremely low‑income renters.
This meant that for every 100 extremely low‑income households, only 35 affordable units existed, leaving millions severely cost‑burdened and unable to meet basic needs.

Breaking: In 2026, Congress set aside about $28 billionfor Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) together, as part of the Homeland Security budget.
